DropSite™ Version 2 Help

Overview

DropSite is a utility for transferring files. DropSites are created on the computer desktop. When a user drags file onto the DropSite icon those files are sent to one or more user defined destinations. Files can be send either via Email or File Transfer Protocol (FTP)

You must have internet connection software already installed and an internet service provider (ISP) to use DropSite.

Requirements

Installation

Install the software by double clicking the DropSite Installer icon and follow the directions. The installation is simple but you do need to agree to the license terms before installing or using the software. When you are done you will have a DropSite icon on your desktop.

Upgrading

Upgrading from DS 1.x to DS 2 might leave you with some problems -- Sorry!

DS1 and DS2 use different DropSite Engines. DS1 kept it in the extensions folder while DS2 puts it in the Application Support folder. For this reason old DropSites won't find the new DropSite Engine. Your preferences and destinations are saved but you need to make new DropSites. The other reason for making new DropSites is because DS2 will run natively on OS X.

If you upgraded on OS X and your destinations disappeared you should find your old preferences in the OS 9 System Folder and copy them to your OS X personal preferences folder. If you get the message that your DropSite couldn't find the DropSite Engine it's probably because it's an old DS1 DropSite.
